Events
Manchester Mediation Network is committed to working with other mediation networks to share good ideas and good practice. We believe that by working together and sharing our knowledge, we can help more people to resolve conflict and get the message of mediation more widely understood and accessible.
We are happy, therefore, to publicise events of other mediation networks and organisations.

CPD event and networking at ELAS on 16 March 2015. Catherine Dobson, Clinical and Business Psychologist spoke to us on ‘Creating Conditions for Conversations’, covering a variety of barriers to communication which affect us all and would clearly have an impact on a mediation.
....." A useful session highlighting the need for focussed questioning, open-mindedness and innovative thinking."
Nikki Wollerton, N2 Mediation.....
North West Mediation Network. 26 February 2015. The Network meets four times per year and each event is an opportunity to undertake CPD and hear speakers on different current topics relating to mediation. The February meeting covered Prisoners, Drugs and Mediation - information about a pilot to support prisoners back into the community; Community Remedy and Mediation; and Linguistics and (Family) Mediation - the power of what is said and what isn't said.
SMILE Conference. Several Network members volunteer for SMILE, which delivers community and family mediations in the region. This is a brilliant organisation which works very effectively through a team of volunteers and provides well resourced CPD in a variety of areas which support mediation. (Most recently Mental Health Awareness and Family Mediation Training, and coming up very soon Hate Crime Awareness and SMILE's annual mediation skills training course.) SMILE's latest annual conference in November 2014 brought together volunteers and interested organisations in the region for a day of interesting speakers and discussions. It was here that I met Catherine Dobson - see CPD event above here.

Spreading the Word.....

.....the message of mediation still needs to be brought to many people and organisations who don't yet understand it or believe in its power to resolve conflict. Please use the Contact page to let us know if you would like someone to talk to a group you're involved in. Here are some of the recent places we've been spreading the word . . . ..
